Scafell is a 964 m Wainwright in the southern fells, above Wasdale. The bulky neighbour of Scafell Pike, separated from it by the Mickledore gap. The ground between the two tops is steep and loose. A usual day starts from Wasdale Head and takes about 6–8 hours. This guide grades it strenuous, judging distance and steepness in fair summer conditions.
