Lowther Castle
A ruined castle and extensive gardens near Penrith.
Lowther Castle is a nineteenth-century shell in a large garden south of Penrith. The gardens are the visit; the castle itself is a facade. It sits on the eastern side of the national park, handy when the high fells are a bad idea.
