Sale Fell is a 359 m Wainwright in the north-western fells, above Braithwaite and Whinlatter. An easy fell on the west side of Bassenthwaite, with woodland on the lower slopes. A usual day starts from Braithwaite and takes about 2–3 hours. This guide grades it easy, judging distance and steepness in fair summer conditions. Read a mountain forecast before a high fell, and turn back if the ridge is in wind, cloud, or ice.
