Yewbarrow is a 627 m Wainwright in the western fells, above Wasdale. A steep, narrow ridge closing the west side of Wasdale Head. The view into the valley is the reason for the climb. A usual day starts from Wasdale Head and takes about 6–8 hours. This guide grades it strenuous, judging distance and steepness in fair summer conditions. Read a mountain forecast before a high fell, and turn back if the ridge is in wind, cloud, or ice.
