Orrest Head
The viewpoint above Windermere station, a short path to a first look at the lake.
Orrest Head is the small hill directly above Windermere railway station. The path starts across the road from the station and takes well under an hour. It is the view that opened the Lake District for many arrivals by train, including the young Alfred Wainwright. The lake and the town are separate pages.
